Nandhaka Pieris

My areas of interest

include mainstream and EAL teachers' cognitions, practices, education and assessment literacy, with regard to EAL.  I am also interested in the acquisition, evaluation and assessment of additional language in a range of contexts.

These complement the practical contexts of which I have experience; the teaching and learning of EAL school-aged learners within mainstream, EAL and ESOL classrooms.

MA in English Language Teaching, Centre for Linguistics, Language Education and Acquisition Research, University of Southampton

My Master's dissertation research investigated mainstream teachers' knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about EAL learners' needs in their subject areas; a study of teacher practice and teacher learning in secondary education.
